ABOUT US

It is a family business that makes Peruvian and South American desserts, offering a unique selection of handcrafted chocolates, cookies and more from scratch.
We are a Peruvian-American family who thrives on challenges. My husband, Willy Sassarini, is a business administrator with a background in banking and logistics, and I, Ana María Salazar, am a hotel administrator with experience in several industries. When we arrived in Raleigh, North Carolina, it was very difficult to find Peruvian and/or South American desserts. So, in 2009, we prepared some desserts for ourselves and shared them with our friends. They were delighted, and so we began the adventure of starting a home-based bakery.
In 2010, I was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer. My husband, my two young children, and I were undeterred and worked as a single team. After the popularity of our products, we decided to move into the business world and founded CHOCOANA LLC.
The name ChocoAna came about because we started making filled chocolates. In Peru, these chocolates are known as CHOCOTEJAS. We needed a name to identify us, as I mentioned my name is Ana and I made chocolates, one night thinking of a name for the company, ChocoAna (Ana makes Chocolates) came up, so people who didn't know chocotejas, began to identify them as ChocoAna (Ana's chocolates).
